Australia’s tour of India will see the teams contest in seven one day internationals and one Twenty20 International. The tour will be played through October and end in the first week of November.
The first game between the two will be the T20 International game that will be played in Rajkot on October 10. After the T20, the seven ODIs will start. Two of the ODIs will be day-night matches.
Major team news for the world champions is that Yuvraj Singh is back, which is great news for the men in Blue. Singh has a lot to offer to the team as he has the potential to hammer the ball out of the park as well as put in a few overs with the ball.
A major blow for the Australians is that Michael Clarke will not play a part in the tournament owing to a persistent back problem. He has been in rested with a view to be completely fit for the Ashes that Australia will be hosting latter in the year.
George Bailey will captain the side while Brad Haddin will step in as vice-captain.
Last year Australia had toured India to play a four-Test series in which they were hammered 4-0. But, the last time these teams played a seven-match ODI series in India, Australia came out on top after winning 4-2, the last game was washed out
The Aussies will be hoping that Shane Watson will get off to a great start as they will be hugely reliant on how he performs, while the Indians will be hoping that Rohit Sharma could continue his superb form that he displayed in the Champions League T20.
Both the teams have played quite a bit of cricket over the last few months. Australia played the Ashes in England which they lost while India played an ODI series against Zimbabwe.
This series has been scheduled just four days after the end of the Champions League T20, so player fatigue could be an issue for those players who participated in that tournament.
Both the teams have named strong line-ups and hence the series will be surely be loads of fun and excitement for the spectators.
